How To Create Your Ad

Creating files for newsprint requires certain key considerations, we list these below as a helpful guide when building & exporting your adverts.

1  Colour

  • Trim size: 8.5” x 11”
  • 300 dpi resolution
  • PDF or JPEG • CMYK images
  • Color Images should be in the CMYK color space (NOT RGB, Indexed color, Lab color space or Multicolor.
  • Mono (Black & White) adverts should be Greyscale and NOT CMYK, RGB or any other color space.
  • Spot Colors and Pantone colors MUST NOT be used anywhere the artwork, you must convert all these colors to Process.
TIP: If there are any channels, other than C,M,Y or K they will need to be corrected to process before uploading.

2   Bleed & Trim (magazines)

  • Bleed: 1/4” – All artwork provided without bleed will be returned.
Safety area: Text may be cropped if placed within ½˝ from the edge.
  • If an ad bleeds off the page (for Magazine products), important content such as live text MUST NOT be placed too close to the trim edges. This “danger area” is usually within 1/4” of the trim edges but can vary so please check the specification for your product.

3   Your PDF

  • File format:   PC compatible
  • Ensure only 1 page is in the PDF (i.e. No multi-page documents).
  • The PDF must be made to the exact size of the advert space booked.
  • DO NOT include white Space, registration marks, color wedges or other furniture.
