An Interview with SOPHIA MIN

Today’s hair consumers want reliability, versatility, and products they can trust to deliver every time. That’s exactly where AllDay Locks continues to stand out. With a strong focus on waves, braids, and textured styles, the brand has built a loyal following by prioritizing performance without compromising care. At the center of that commitment is Sophia Min, whose role is rooted in shaping the customer experience and ensuring every interaction reflects the brand’s core values. With a deep belief in listening first and building trust through consistency, Min brings a thoughtful, customer-driven perspective to the brand’s growth. We spoke with her about how AllDay Locks stays connected to its core audience, what drives innovation, and why trust remains the foundation of long-term success.

What is your role within the brand, and how do you contribute to its growth and direction?
My role within the brand is centered heavily on creating an exceptional customer experience and ensuring that every decision we make reflects our commitment to serving our customers. My primary focus is making sure our customers feel valued, supported, and confident in our products and servitude. I believe that great customer service is the foundation of a successful brand. Products and services are important, but it’s the way you treat people that leaves a lasting impression. That’s why I work to build a culture where responsiveness, professionalism, and genuine care are at the heart of every customer interaction, whether it is big or small. Whether we’re resolving an issue, answering a question, or simply providing guidance, our goal is to exceed expectations and to build lasting relationships. I also contribute to the brand’s growth by listening closely to customer feedback and using those insights to improve our processes, services, and overall experience. I believe some of the best ideas for growth come directly from understanding our customers’ needs and finding better ways to serve them. At the end of the day, I measure success by the trust we’ve built with our customers and for their trust and confidence in our products. When people choose to come back to us and to continue using our products, recommend our products to others, and know that they can depend on us, that’s the strongest sign that we’re growing in the right direction. My role is to make sure we continue earning that trust every single day, it is very imperative to me.

AllDay Locks is known for its focus on waves and textured hair. How do you ensure your products truly meet the needs of your core customer?
AllDay Locks is built around a very important principle: listening to our customers and understanding what they need most. We know that when people are choosing a braid gel, they want a reliable, trusted product that delivers strong hold, clean parts, long-lasting style, and a finish that supports fabulous, sleek, and head-turning designs and styles. That’s why we focus on creating braid gels and braid care products that help our customers achieve and maintain all of their unique styles with confidence and ease, all while being infused with nourishing, feel-good ingredients. We make it a priority to listen to customer feedback and to use it to improve our formulas, performance, and overall experience. Whether it’s refining the hold, improving the texture, or making sure the product works well for different braid styles and hair types, our decisions are driven by what will best serve our customers.

The Wave line has built a strong following. What makes these products stand out in such a competitive category?
I believe that the Wave Line has made an impact in its current product category due to its ability to allow for guests to have style versatility and ease of use without having to pay premium prices. We truly make an effort to make great, quality products without having to compromise on quality ingredients, and wanted to make sure that the Wave Line really celebrated the beautiful and natural textures with nourishing and conditioning ingredients.z

What does a successful day look like for you and your team at AllDay Locks?
To the AllDay LOCKS team, a successful day is one where we’ve all made meaningful progress toward both business goals and the customer experience individually and collectively. In the haircare industry, success isn’t just about launching a product or hitting sales targets. I think that it’s more-so about understanding what consumers truly need and creating solutions, products in our case, that improve their confidence and daily routines. I enjoy collaborating with our team because the best ideas often come from combining different perspectives. Whether I’m working with marketing, product development, logistics, or retail partners, I think a successful day involves clear communication, problem-solving, and moving projects forward together. I also measure success by impact. If I can contribute to a campaign that resonates with customers, help improve a product based on consumer feedback, or support retail partners in better educating shoppers, that’s a meaningful accomplishment. I definitely believe that data is important, but so is listening to the voice of the customer. Understanding purchasing behaviors, emerging trends, and unmet needs helps create products and experiences that people genuinely value, and that is something that we all collectively work on together as we share and brainstorm.

What motivates you to keep pushing forward, especially during challenging moments in your career or while building the brand?
What truly keeps me pushing forward is actually the bigger picture–building a brand isn’t just about growing a business per se, it is, to me, about creating something people can trust and rely on. There are always challenges, but I see them as opportunities to learn, improve, and become more resilient. I am also incredibly motivated by the people that we serve and by the incredible team that helps make it all happen. I think that by remaining consistent, making a conscious effort to always improve, and to continue to have that constant desire to make a meaningful impact is what helps me push forward during challenging moments.

What mindset or belief has been most important in helping you succeed?
As simple as it may sound, taking full ownership has been the most absolute important mindset that has personally helped me to succeed and stay on the right path. Taking everything seriously, giving everything my all, my full attention, focus, and effort, putting my best foot forward, taking full accountability that “hey, if something goes wrong, what is it that I can do to make it go or be better” rather than finding who or what to blame. This mindset of taking responsibility has really shifted the way I approach my work, as it has genuinely opened my eyes to being accountable for the outcomes, learning from my mistakes rather than avoiding them, and trying to set a positive example for the people around me. Building a brand comes with constant challenges, and there are plenty of situations that don’t go according to plan. Rather than seeing those moments as failures, I see them as opportunities to improve our systems, strengthen our relationships, and raise our standards. Every obstacle has taught me something valuable, and those lessons have been just as important as the wins. It is also a blessing that I am surrounded by extremely supportive people who have been nothing but encouraging and have said that running into problems is actually what teaches you a lot about the real-world. Running into the problems isn’t the important part, but experiencing the problems, assessing the problems, and learning from the problems is what is important.

Who or what has been your biggest source of inspiration on your journey, and how has that influenced the way you lead today?
One of my biggest sources of inspiration has been the people who built something meaningful through hard work, integrity, and perseverance and more specifically, my dad. I’ve always admired individuals who didn’t take shortcuts and who earned their success by consistently delivering value, honoring their commitments, and treating people with respect, and this is how my dad has conducted himself his entire life. Through him, I have also learned that trust is built over time through consistency, transparency, and following through on your word, especially during difficult situations and as cliche as it may sound, showing up no matter how hard it gets. I’m also inspired by the customers and employees who put their trust in us. Our customer’s confidence in our company serves as a daily reminder that our work has a real impact and for that, I am genuinely so blessed and have immense gratitude for each and every one of our customers because we simply would not be here today if it were not for them. Our team here is also simply the best of the best–they always motivate me to maintain high standards, continue improving, and make decisions with the long-term success of the business and the people connected to it in mind, always.

Are there any new product launches or innovations the brand is especially excited about this year?
Oh yes! I am actually incredibly ecstatic about our upcoming launch of new fragrances incorporated into our Braid Gel Line. Being able to finally launch some fun and new “variants” of our Braid Gel Line is something that I have always personally looked forward to because many of us enjoy fresh and light fragrances in our haircare and styling products. There are times where I just want it to be mellow in fragrance, as do many others, so I am also hoping for a possibility to even have a fragrance-free line, but who knows. Needless to say, our upcoming Peach Gold and Shea Vanilla Braid Gel’s are something I am really proud of and cannot wait to share it with you all. We hope–truly hope that you love it as much as we do, because well, anything peach and vanilla fragranced always manages to put a smile on my face.
