ORLANDO, FLORIDA (June 2019) – Licensed barbers, cosmetologists and students are invited to enter into men’s grooming competitions sponsored by Andis® Company during the Premiere Orlando International Beauty Event. The three competitions are Classic Cut for professionals, Classic Cut for students and Creative Cut for professionals. These competitions will challenge contestants to exhibit their barbering skills and artistic techniques on Sunday, June 2 and Monday, June 3.
These competitions are conducted in partnership with Premiere Orlando and SalonCentric. The Classic Cut competition will be split into two events, one for
professionals and one for students. The purpose of this competition is to showcase the clipper craft used in creating timeless, short hairstyles – such as
tapers and fades – that fit today’s contemporary lifestyles. The Creative Cut competition is open to professionals only. For this competition, barbers and
cosmetologists are challenged to put their unique, creative abilities to the test in order to transform their model’s hair into a canvas on which to create an
intricate, work of art. For all three competitions, contestants will be required to use the Andis professional tool package provided, valued at over $150, to
remove at least a 1⁄2 inch of hair during the 40-minute timeframe.
“This is our fourth year partnering with Premiere Orlando to highlight men’s grooming and each year it keeps getting bigger and better,” said Bruce Bock, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications for Andis. “We can’t wait to see the passion and creativity that these barbers and stylists will bring to the stage.”
Final judging criteria will include technique, originality, style and tool usage all evaluated by Head Judge & Andis Educator, Danny Amorim. Professional winners will receive $300, while the second and third place finishers will receive $200 and $100, respectively. Student winners will receive $125, while the second and third place finishers will receive $100 and $75, respectively.
Cost for registration is $100 for professionals to both events and $85 for students. Registered competitors will receive a complimentary three-day show pass to Premiere Orlando while participating models will receive a complimentary one-day pass.
